Types, storage and transportation of semi-finished products such as stainless steel plates

Semi-finished stainless steel plates generally refer to stainless steel products that require appropriate deep processing. Based on the characteristics of this product, it is recommended to use the relatively simple packaging and transportation methods described below.

First, let’s look at the product types of semi-finished steel parts, which mainly include carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel ingots (blocks, billets, plates), etc., as well as reel carbon steel pipes, etc.

For such products, marking is generally required before storage and transportation. A common practice is to mark the furnace batch number on each stainless steel plate during bulk transportation, and to label each smaller size billet on the fixed shipment. Mark the batch number on it. Dimensions and weight: At least one piece of each size must be marked when shipped in bulk, or at least one piece must be included in each fixed shipment. Stainless steel pipe coils must be labeled or stamped to indicate the batch number and size.

Regarding color coding, there is generally no accepted color code to identify steel types. If there is prior agreement or regulation, color coding may be used to indicate product type. In this case, marking one end of the bulk cargo with a colored dash can help. In the case of smaller, fixed shipments, the product type is indicated on a label affixed to the shipment or by a colored dash on one end of the shipment.

When packaging, semi-finished stainless steel panels are generally transported in bulk. If there are regulations, the stainless steel billet of 85 square centimeters and the inner section can be fixed to the cargo of more than 5 tons. This type of packaging can be secured using soft metal strips or elastic flat metal straps. The amount of packing tape to use on a specific shipment is best determined by the experience of the shipper.

Reel pipes should be fixed with at least 2 packaging tapes per roll. Semi-finished stainless steel panels are generally transported in open-top equipment and do not require additional protection from weather factors. Loading - Semi-finished stainless steel panels are generally shipped in bulk in different sizes and weights. There is an additional cost when packaging into groups.
