Suggestions for selecting 18-8 chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel
1) Type 18-8 stainless steel without stabilizing elements
1Cr8Ni9 is not suitable for welding parts due to its high carbon content.
0Cr18Ni9 can be used for welding parts, but it is not suitable for media that can cause intergranular corrosion. Its maximum service temperature can reach 800℃, but due to the influence of carbon content on high temperature strength, when used above 538℃, the carbon content in the steel should be ≥004%
0Cr19Ni10 can be used as welding parts. It has good resistance to intergranular corrosion and is suitable for media that can cause intergranular corrosion. Since steel has low carbon content and low high-temperature strength, its use temperature does not exceed 450C.
2) Type 18-8 stainless steel containing stabilizing elements
lCr8 NigTh has a high carbon content and will be prone to serious intergranular corrosion after thermal processing such as welding. Because steel has high carbon content and contains titanium, it has high high-temperature strength and can be used in high-temperature corrosion-resistant conditions that will not produce intergranular corrosion.
oCrl8NiT can be used as welding parts. Its anti-crystalline corrosion resistance is better than Cr8Vi9, but not as good as 0C19N10. Therefore, it has been replaced by 019Ni10 in many applications. Since Crl8Ni9Ti has a higher carbon content and contains titanium, its high-temperature strength is higher than that of 0Crl9Ni10.
In addition to its good intergranular corrosion resistance, oCr18Ni1lNb also has good resistance to polythionic sulfate stress corrosion resistance and can be used in environments with polythionic sulfuric acid.
